An overwhelmed woman sitting on the floor with her hands over her face

I pretend

I feel stuck
I'm anxious all the time
I hate my body

I'm bulimic

I cheated on him

I'm not good at anything

I lied

life is meaningless

I feel used

I've been putting it off

I'm not good enough

They don't

believe me

I feel guilty
all the time
I can't sleep
I cut myself
I am addicted
I still love him
I am addicted

I feel like an
imposter

They don't
respect me

I'm not good enough

I feel
overwhelmed
I don't trust him
I'm scared of rejection
I don't know what to do
I'm nervous about dating
I feel judged
He repulses me

I can't remember

I'm barely functioning
I'm struggling with getting older
I feel bitter
I can't stop
bingeing
I'm worried about my health
I hate my body
I feel stuck

I'm scared

I'm not good enough

I'm dull
I can't sleep

I feel used

life is meaningless

I'm not good
at anything

I don't know what I want

I'm bulimic

I can't sleep
I'm unhappy
I worry about
everything

I've been putting it off

I'm struggling with getting older
I worry about my  parents
I'm anxious
all the time
I feel stuck

I pretend

I feel invisible
My family don't understand

I feel bullied
What's the point?
I can't stop bingeing
I don't want to feel like this anymore
I feel
overwhelmed
I still have an eating disorder

I'm lonely

I'm a bad parent

I want
a divorce
I worry about
everything
I miss my family
I stole it
I'm infertile
I don't want kids

I don't like my step kids

I'm a bully

I don't want to get married
I'm so hurt

I hate him

I don't have any friends

I am mean

no one
gets me

Nicole Edwards Matson counsellor Melbourne

Nicole was born in the 1970s during Australia's second wave of feminism.  She was raised in a culture where beauty standards were considered female virtues: she's happy these ideas are being challenged.

Her career cuts across government, private, and community sectors, with roles spanning social researcher to allied health professional, driven by a lifelong fascination with people and what makes them tick.

The end of a long-term relationship sparked a full reset. Nicole went back to study, reskilled, and jumped into online dating,  clocking up more than 100 dates along the way. Through missteps, insight, and growth, she discovered life on her own terms and real contentment before eventually meeting her now-husband.

Nicole understands that everyone’s journey is different, but brings lived experience of separation, loneliness (in and out of relationships), substance use challenges, menopause, and coming to terms with ageing, death, and loss. When she’s not working, she enjoys travelling, cooking, playing very average tennis, and connecting with people from all walks of life.
